Excursions

During "Pfingstwoche", we organise an annual excursion lasting several days. If "Pfingstwoche" falls late in the year, we go to Borkum to experience the wind, rain, sun and sea. If it falls earlier in the year, we go to the Bergische Heideterassen and the Rheinauen to enjoy the southern sun.

"Biodiversity and ecology of the Frisian coasts, islands and the Wadden Sea" (Borkum)
Here, the focus is on the island's specific biotopes and flora. Students work in supervised small groups to investigate topics such as dune development, salt marsh vegetation and mudflat dwellers. We travel by train and ferry, then cycle to the various locations on Borkum.

"Biodiversity and ecology of the Bergische Heideterrassen"
Here, we will study certain heathland and wetland areas, the floodplain and riparian vegetation of the Rhine, as well as certain sandy areas. Students work in supervised small groups. We start in Wuppertal and travel by bicycle.
